Demo Tips

Corporate Matching

  • For Missions sending and faith-based orgs, we generally don’t bring up corporate matching as they are not likely eligible
Publish Forms
    • When demoing a newly created giving form, we recommend building and publishing the form prior to the demo so that publish errors don’t unexpectedly come up (example: if you pasted formatted text, forgot to add designations, etc. it’s good to catch those beforehand)

Product/Engineering Team Commitments

  • “Hey there’s a demo on ___ day, can you be prepared to be available?”
  • Slack channel with Sales, Product, and engineering with technical questions
  • Sales presents technical questions to Prod/Eng prior to demos if possible via slack
  • Sales mentions product feedback calendar plug for feature requests that are not yet available https://meetings.hubspot.com/nacho-andrade
  • Product team rep to demo for VIP clients (limit to 1x/month)
  • Living doc with technical demo questions

How to anticipate “in the weeds” questions

  • APIs
    • We have a full set of APIs and webhooks orgs can utilize to push data from iDonate to wherever they’d like to receive and store that data.
  • Designation bulk upload - can be done using our Designation API
  • Payment Gateways
    • CardConnect
      • Supports all donation types except paypal
    • Stripe - pricing is different than with CardConnect
      • Integrates with Spreedly
      • Currently CANNOT process ACH (echeck) donations
      • Cannot use Apple/Google Pay
    • Auth.net - pricing is different than with CardConnect
      • Integrates with Spreedly
      • Currently CANNOT process ACH (echeck) donations
  • Integrations
    • Know our “out of the box” integrations
      • Salesforce NPSP
      • Virtuous
      • Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT
        • JMG Importer/Export Tool to import into RE
      • Blackbaud CRM
    • TIP: always best to have a prep or follow-up email with integrations resources, it would take so much time to cover everything in a demo (generally Salesforce and Virtuous)

Big Q&A

  • https://www.idonate.com/knowledge - use this for how-to questions when you're building demos
